In December 2005, a small group of wine enthusiasts and investors acquired the historic La Grange farm, Acres of land with a dilapidated manor house and numerous out buildings. The investors formed PWC Winery, LLC, with the goal was to open a high-quality winery in Prince William County, a first for the county. The property now includes eight acres of vineyards, the restored circa 1790 manor house as well as a production facility.
We style our wines to have the elegance and refinement of European wines with subdued fruit forward characteristics, which is the acknowledged “terroir” Virginia has to offer. We strive to incorporate a more terroir-driven style into some of the wines we make here at La Grange, while continuing with our popular wines in their traditional style so that our loyal customers have great staples to come back to again and again.
The Winery at La Grange is a relative new comer to Virginia’s historic wine legacy. Established in 2006, we currently operate as both a farm winery and négociant. Our farm includes Cabernet Sauvignon vines (Benoni’s Vineyard) and Petit Manseng (Catherine’s Vineyard). We harvested our first crop of Cabernet grapes in September/October 2012, and while the Petit Manseng vineyard is a year younger than the Cabernet vineyard, we did harvest enough grapes to make 3 barrels of Petit Mensang.
