It's our favorite time of year at the winery - it's Harvest!! Grapes are being picked all over Virginia and Rob, our on-site winemaker, is working extra hard processing this year's fruit. Our tank room is filling up with fermenting wine and it smells divine, you should all come check it out. If you're lucky you'll catch a glimpse of Rob, Chris Pearmund and the rest of the crew de-stemming the latest batch of grapes or tamping down the giant bins of fermenting fruit or having serious discussions about what steps to take next to insure the quality of next year's vintage. It's the time of year that the winemaker's anticipate and prepare for all year long and the rest of us can start getting excited about what's to come.
We are also looking forward to a special weekend coming up called "Taste of Blue Ridge WineWay". September 28 - 30 all of the wineries on the Blue Ridge WineWay invite you to come and enjoy various specials and activities offered by each winery. We'll be featuring an art show by our favorite local artist, Clara Thompson. Clara will here to talk with you about her art techniques and will have a variety of original paintings for sale including some that are perfect for the special place in your house that's just for wine. We'll also offer a tasting of our Reserve wines with your regular tasting and, as always, we'll send you home with one of our etched tasting glasses as a souvenir of your visit. We hope you'll make it to all of the incredible wineries on the WineWay and taste the best of Virginia Wines! Visit www.blueridgewineway.com for more details.
Our next Winemaker's Dinner is planned for October 20 and it's sure to give you the creeps! It's a Ghoulish Feast (check out the menu on our "Happenings" page) complete with spiders and skeletons and servers from beyond. Make your reservation now, it's filling up fast. And, don't forget to come in some kind of creepy costume!
We look forward to seeing you all at the winery this fall season. Come and enjoy our beautiful views, share one of our delicious food baskets with your friends and sip our wonderful wine in the lovely fall breezes.

Each of these Reserve wines has been aged 20 months in French and American Oak and each is 100% of its varietal. $29 per bottle, get them while they last!
2005 Reserve Cabernet Franc
An austere, medium bodied wine with spicy aromas and earthen and herbal flavors.
2005 Reserve Petit Verdot
A well rounded, rustic wine with black fruit flavors. Good Tannin structure lead this wine to a very smooth finish.
2005 Cabernet Sauvignon
Fruity aromas with rich layers of red fruit round out this very complex, well rounded varietal wine. The house favorite! | | |
