For those of you who know the ghost stories of Christmases past, yes, the trees in the parlor rooms have both fallen over for no good reason again this year. One fell over right in the middle of the day and the other fell over in the night. I'll admit that it's kind of fun because when the trees fall over each year it seems to be the start of all kinds of holiday merriment among our "ghostly residents". On the other hand, it does get a little tedious redecorating the trees for days on end. The first time is fun and then the point has been made, thank you very much. Well we will not be outsmarted by a bunch of rowdy ghosts so this year our crew of thinkers got smart and after the first recovery was complete they put a huge and heavy chain around each tree stand so that they can't fall over (or be pushed) without some serious effort. Ha! If the trees fall over now, well... lets just say that we may have some job openings at the winery.
We've got some pretty incredible holiday deals on wine now through New Year's Eve.
Our "White Christmas" special is a bottle each of our 2007 Viognier and 2006 Chardonnay for only $35. Or you might like our "Candy Cane" special which is a bottle each of the 2007 Viognier and 2007 Cabernet Franc, also just $35. Lastly is our "Rudolph's Red Nose" special which is a trio of favorites - one bottle each of 2006 Norton, 2006 Merlot and 2007 Rose for just $45. We'll pack them in a bag with some festive tissue and a little ribbon if you like and you'll be ready to give!
We've also combined two of my personal favorites to make a really unique gift. Wine and Books! If you buy any one of Ellen Crosby's wonderful mysteries and pair it with the wine that corresponds with the title of the book, you'll get the whole thing for 20% off. Who wouldn't love turning the pages of The Chardonnay Charade while sipping Virginia's finest Chardonnay? Biting nails trying to figure out who's responsible for The Merlot Murders while slurping our luscious Merlot? And everyone's favorite, Meritage, is sure to sooth the nerves while making way through The Bordeaux Betrayal . We've also stocked the shop with some really great wine accessories, games and even some locally made jams. Perfect hostess gifts, stocking stuffers and treats for that person that has everything.
For all of you Snort lovers out there, it's almost time! Snort will be bottled on December 23rd and available for sale on the 24th. Talk about some last minute shopping! But you know you want it - you know you gotta have it - no Christmas dinner will be complete without the little guy to bring it all to a warm and wonderful close. We'll be closing a little early on Christmas Eve, 4pm, so don't hesitate or you'll miss out.
We know times are a little tough right now but we want to remind you that The Winery at La Grange is a great place to gather with friends and family to share a unique and fun experience without breaking the bank. Tastings, wines by the bottle or by the glass and lots of generously portioned snacks can be enjoyed for very few dollars and you can't beat the setting! We've got lots of cozy seating, fireplaces blazing, games and books all over the place and that's all included!! We're always happy that you're here so you're welcome to stay for as long as we're open. Remember that we're also wireless so our place is a great place to get some work done, finish your Christmas shopping on-line or email your friends and tell them what they're missing.
We wish you all the happiest of holidays and hope to see you at the winery very soon!
