What's Happening at the Winery by Melissa Stephen |

Happy Holidays!! The Manor House is aglow with sparkling Christmas Trees, decorated mantels and cheery poinsettias. Very special thanks to Volunteers Lisa and Ann for taking on the job of decorating this lovely old house, it looks spectacular! The scent of mulled wine fills the house every weekend and we would love for you to have taste. The shop (shop online) is filled with gifts for you and yours and, in the tasting room, you can now enjoy a taste of each of our Reserve wines along with the newly bottled Tannat (incredible!) and everyone's favorite, Snort!
If you missed our Winemaker's Dinner this month you truly missed something special. The choir from Grace Church of Gainesville started things off with the sounds of traditional carols. Chef Kyle, as usual, did not disappoint and offered a menu of traditional holiday fare. Winemaker Rob Cox and Partner Neil Temple guided everyone through the meal with stories of wine's significance to Christmas in Virginia along with our latest ghost stories. Seems the ghosts of La Grange really come out this time of year.
Our next dinner is January 19 and is all about Italy, complete with Italian wines paired with each traditional Italian course. Then, in February, the dinner will be a romantic one that will take place on the Day of Love itself, Thursday February 14. Bring your love and your love of wine and we're sure to have a lovely evening to remember.
As Winter settles in, don't forget that The Winery at La Grange is the perfect place to come with family and friends. Our fireplaces are blazing, we have cards and board games in every room, we're wireless so bring your laptop and there's always plenty of food and wine. We love your company and, whether your gathering with great friends or doing some business or taking a break from the kids with your beloved, our cozy rooms and implacable wine are the perfect alternative to a noisy bar.
All of our sincerest thanks to you all as our first full year of business comes to a close. It's been so much fun sharing our wine, our stories and our very special property with you all! And, because so many of you are telling your friends about us, we're making new friends everyday. It's sure to be a Happy New Year at La Grange as we anticipate the new vintage of wine and sharing it with all of you. We hope your New Year is Happy too! |
